Why is there so much hate? I’ve recently seen a video of the Westboro Baptist church and I was so appalled by their beliefs and actions. I’m not going to list all the atrocities they’ve committed (because you can look it up yourself) but I am curious to what could have possibly happened for them to have so much hate.
I’m open to the idea of freedom of religion and speech but what gives them the right to damn everyone else who doesn’t agree with them to hell? They had the audacity to travel to the funerals of fallen war victims and justify their deaths of that as being deserving for serving a country that is going hell. I’m personally not a supporter of war but regardless of how a person dies, I believe the families and loved ones of that person should be able to morn and properly pay their respects, free from individuals who spread hate and have no prior relation towards that person other than not supporting that individuals beliefs and practices that lead them to their death.
What really bothered me was how the parents passed on their ideas of hate to their children and excommunicating anyone who dared question their beliefs. How eire it was to see a child smile as she admits to believing her older sister (who was excommunicated) is going to burn in hell. I’m a firm believer in God, just not so much in religion. As a God loving man I believe that only he is just and has the right to to pass judgment on whats right and wrong leading towards entrance into heaven. I’m certainly no saint though I am humbled at the thought that my outlook in life is no where near as cynical as them. In the event that God deems me unworthy of granting me entry in the kingdom of heaven, I’ll find comfort in knowing that there are more deserving people down there with me;though I don’t wish anyone damned.
One of the girls admitted that she became a social outcast after her peers learned of her family’s beliefs and that only drove her deeper into these misconstrued ideals. I believe that no one should be subjected to any sort of hate. If only she had someone to show her the good in people. I wish they knew how beautiful the world truly is and instead of fearing God for what he can do; they should love God for what he has done and make the most of it.
